Overview

Direct Payments are a way of managing some or all of a Personal Budget.

Some or all of the budget is paid directly into your bank account, and you have responsibility and control for spending it to achieve the planned outcomes for your child.

Things to think about before you choose Direct Payments

Direct Payments can be a good way to be creative and flexible when managing your child's care.

But they can involve more work for you to arrange and manage the care provided.

You will need to make your own assessment of the organisation or person who may provide services to your child, and you will need to check that they have clearance to work with vulnerable children.

If you're employing someone directly, you will need to deal with tax, National Insurance and pension issues for them.
