Short breaks

A short break allows children and young people to spend time away from the people who usually care for them.

A short break is an opportunity for a child or young person to spend time away from the people who usually care for them.

Young people can take part in activities they enjoy, and carers can take a break from their caring responsibilities.

Short breaks may be for an hour, overnight, or for a number of days, depending on the needs of the young person's needs those who care for them.
